The BD Butyl Sealing Tape is a premium, self-adhesive waterproofing tape laminated with a highly durable non-woven polypropylene fleece on the top side. Engineered for ultimate flexibility and tear resistance, it provides high adhesion on nearly all standard building substrates.
Designed for both interior and exterior applications, this tape is the perfect professional solution for sealing connection joints, tricky corners, and gullies. It excels in moderately stressed wet areas with non-accumulating seepage water, such as private bathrooms, balconies, and terraces.

It's also an absolute lifesaver for pasting over floor joints before you pour levelling compound—it stops the screed from flowing behind your boards and creating sound bridges."
Pro Tip: Your substrate must be bone dry, frost-free, and completely stripped of any cement laitance, paint, or grease. Peel the foil and press it down firmly, but do not pre-stress or stretch the tape. If you are using a liquid tanking membrane, always stick this tape down first, and make sure you paint both your first and second coats of liquid sealant completely over it. Keep the tape protected from direct sunlight (UV) and mechanical damage before you tile!
Primary Applications
- Wet Rooms & Outdoors: Sealing connection joints, corners, and gullies in interior and exterior areas (bathrooms, balconies, terraces).
- Substrate Prep: Pasting over joints before pouring levelling compounds or structural grouts to prevent material flow-through and acoustic sound bridges.
- Bituminous Compatibility: Acts as an excellent connection and completion tape in combination with KSK sheeting (self-adhesive bituminous sheeting).
- Resin Systems: Officially certificated for use in connection with RA170 Reaction resin sealants.
System Restrictions & Compliance
⚠️ Critical Trade Note:
While highly effective for moderate, non-accumulating seepage water, this product is not suitable for use in areas exposed to pressing water, or areas that are permanently underwater (such as the interior basins of swimming pools). A trial fixing on site is always recommended prior to full application.
