The OTTOFLEX® Sealing Strip is a premium polyethylene waterproofing membrane with a double non-woven fabric backing. Engineered by Otto-Chemie for rapid installation in moisture-prone and wet environments, it serves as a highly reliable, crack-bridging, and uncoupling alternative sealing strip underneath ceramic and natural stone coverings.
Designed to anchor perfectly into thin-bed tile adhesives, this 30m x 1m roll allows for immediate further processing with zero waiting time before tiling. It is completely impermeable to water, has water vapour retarding properties, and exhibits superior resistance to aging, decomposition, and alkaline solutions.

This OTTOFLEX roll lets you bed the membrane down with C2 tile adhesive and start laying tiles straight away. It's tough, flexible, and gives you total peace of mind on critical wet area jobs."
Pro Tip: Apply a C2 thin-bed mortar using a 4x4mm serrated trowel and press the membrane firmly into place using a smoothing trowel guided diagonally to eliminate air bubbles. You must overlap adjacent rolls by at least 5cm. For a guaranteed watertight system across all overlaps, corners, and pipe sleeves, bond the seams using OTTOCOLL® M 500 or M 595.
Primary Applications
- Wet Rooms & Bathrooms: Waterproof composite sealing under ceramic and natural stone using the thin-bed method (shower rooms, public wet areas).
- Commercial & Industrial: Suitable for food industry applications (breweries, dairies) and wet areas such as saunas, steam baths, and swimming pool surrounds.
- Balconies & Terraces: Flexible composite sealing under tile coverings on balconies, terraces, and arcades (not above inhabited rooms; requires a minimum gradient of ≥1.5%).
- Composite Sealing Plus: Approved for specialized installations in combination with OTTOFLEX® Slurry Seal Coating (ÖFV Technical Guidance Note 3).

Substrate Preparation & Moisture Limits
Substrates must be clean, load-bearing, flat, and free from adhesive-repelling agents. Prime porous substrates with OTTOFLEX® Deep Primer; smooth/glazed surfaces require OTTOFLEX® Adhesive Primer. Maximum residual moisture levels (calcium carbide method):
- Cement Screeds: Max. 2.0% (Unheated & Heated)
- Anhydrite Screeds: Max. 0.5% (Unheated) / Max. 0.3% (Heated)
- Wall Plaster (Cement/Gypsum): Max. 1.0%
